Ridley: I'm incredibly difficult to predict the future of technology. What looks obvious looking backwards is not at all obvious looking forwards. Past performance is no guide to future performance, as they say in the stock market business. Biotechnology has achieved disappointingly little over 20 or 30 years but it's now starting to outperform and you're seeing a CRISPR Cas9 gene editing. And so I think biotechnology is where the action is going to be in the next 30 or 40 years. You know, I had a good look at fusion energy - its been disappointing for a few hundred years... But we are beginning to see diminishing returns in digital innovation. They're almost certainly wrong
