He argues that reporting on candidates like Ron DeSantis, who is running for governor of Florida, should be balanced against their anti-pluralistic and anti-democratic agendas. The choice is not between making either a judgment call or just being neutral, he says. "Journalists are not never simply passive observers," Sutter adds.
