Nicha says that everything great in western civilization owes itself to christianity. He thinks humanity was able to give itself a kind of self torturing meaning by adopting christianity, and now it's running out. His view is that we tortured ourselves for an ideal we couldn't achieve. But at the same time, he thinks, well, we need an ideal to torture ourselves fore were light.
