The Temple and the Status Hierarchy
The temple constructed this inverted status hierarchy that, you know, it kind of took literally the christian idea that the last shall be first. Men were accused of mesageny by women to win arguments all the time. A black man could sometimes shut down a white woman by accusing her of racism. The one who was being accused did not have the moral standing to question the subjective experience of the accuser. And so only jim jones, the fully realized socialist who carried the suffering of all the world inside him, had the power to absolve if he wasn't present or if he let it go on.
