Is There a Universal Basic Income?
The left wants to emancipate people from being forced to work and provide them with a new freedom instead, which is the freedom of free time to live your life as you please. And they say the way to do this is the one, I mean, there's different versions of it, but it's basically give everybody a universal basic income that isn't conditional on working and attack the work ethic. But for a UBI to be emancipatory, it has to be that you can use the income to buy all the basic goods that you need to survive. So either a whole bunch of people are doing work as a necessary condition for everyone enjoying and being able to use their UBI
