You need to be deliberate in how you read the book, says Ind. This can be as simple as a writing summaries of what you're reading. E an murray would write out his biographies on end papers - that's extra papers at the beginning and end of each books you read. He said this helped him sink into stories by forcing himself to think through author's structure. It also served as a useful reference point later.
