I think it's really a matter of productivity. You have to be constantly turning out another story. The other secret to longevity, i think, is is taking the time to write the book that you want to write eventually. I mean, my first romantic suspense novel is published in 87 and they're still selling. They're still turning in some nice royalty checus. So longevity is just a matter of refusing to give up,. And for you must have seen writers who've left the industry over that time. A lot of people leave because they lose their publisher.
