Can we get good jobs simply by regulating them? Nick Hancocks says there are important reinforcing measures that come from what i view as these sort of micro institutional practices with infirms. The coded language of skill has been used for decades, for centuries, in this country to justify occupational segregation and reinforce racial wage gaps. We need to be thinking about how it can get used to strengthen the institutional impa structure that ultimately is needed to deliver high quality jobs to more workers.
