If you say the laws of physics determine everything that doesn't get you far okay this is why i say that although i'm a determinist it doesn't add anything to many of these discussions at all. for most other things that are more complex you need the higher more emergent explanation. Sam Harris is not wrong he's just maybe putting the emphasis in a different place there's something that happens when you combine certain chemicalsCertain chemicals that you know have biological the creep that when you combine them creep a biological thing and that's different than just the electrons and the atoms moving around Certain combination have emergent properties it's Emergent Properties.
