Is There a Feeling of Fatalism at Work in Public Health?

Why do you think the left and public health have been disarticulated over overtime? And what does it take to re articulate them? I think part of it is the american left, in many ways, is pretty individualistic. But i think it's harder when there are questions that involve collective responsibility like an infectious disease pendemic.
