I was raised in a Christian church, but I wasn't raised in a evangelical fundamentalist kind of setting. As a conservative evangelical at Moody Bible Institute, where we genuinely believe that Jesus was coming back by the late 1980s based on a book called Hal Lindsey's late great planet earth. And so I became a big believer that Jesus was returning to take his believers out his followers out of the world. This is a view of course, it's become more popular in the left behind series more recently. But in that event, I got interested then that I became a scholar. I came to realize that the book revelation in fact is not predicting our future.

You’ll find nearly everything the Bible has to say about the end in the Book of Revelation: a mystifying prophecy filled with bizarre symbolism, violent imagery, mangled syntax, confounding contradictions, and very firm ideas about the horrors that await us all.
