Dr. Deborah Carr is a professor of sociology and inaugural director of the Center of Innovation in Social Science at Boston University. Her research interests include aging and the life course, psycho-psychosocial factor influences on health over the life course and end-of-life issues. We have to strike this balance between figuring out ways to keep people healthy yet at the same time not stigmatizing those people who carry more weight than others.
