The Red Cross Knight meets a beautiful maiden named Duesa. But the knight doesn't realize that she's a witch in disguise. After several more adventures, the knight drinks from a fountain which causes him to lose his strength. A giant appears and attacks the knight, who's unable to defend himself. Arthur slays the giant, and they manage to free the Red Cross Knight of captivity. There are no recent loan words in that entire passage. Every word would have been common two centuries earlier.
