A lot of what we consume is to make us happier, or at least we think it will make us happy. If we could just get happiness directly, that might actually be the ultimate form of post-scarcity society. It's not like somebody can tax by a very happy move and use some of that happiness to make some unhappy people appear. That would be a really weird word. Probably it makes for a very fun science fiction story but what you actually need is some very different kind of infrastructure.
