Clogs were made from a square block of wood that was carved and smoothed into shape you could fit your foot into. Cowboy boots have a lot of shoe ancestors, like the boots worn by spanish vaqueros,. or wellingtons, which was a style of boot popular with wealthy british aristocrats in the early 18 hundreds.
