Nick epley did research with juliana schroder, and you write about this in your book. What did they learn about those kind of interactions? Yet, not onlay is it not our first inclination to do on the subway, talking strangers. It's like our last. There are really pretty stringent social norms about talking to people on the subway. People take it very seriously. But when we actually set out to do it, people overwhelmingly find that it's easier than they expected it to be - and really enjoyable.
