Right now or up until recently people have been optimizing for exactly one thing, which is sort of accuracy. It's not just I need to validate loan applications in a way that's going to maximize profit for the bank. Instead, we have to take into account these notions of bias and fairness. This green AI paper talks about we need to focus on efficiency more. That's something that we determine AI focus a lot on as well.
