The Intention Behind MRP

MRP was introduced in 1990 as a proposed measure to safeguard consumers from unreasonably high prices. It is not applicable to loose food grains or anything like that or services. So Daoat Basmati can have an MRP, but loose Basmati cannot. A Coca-Cola can for example is sold at has an MRP of 30 rupees and it is punishable by law to charge more than MRP.
