Greek Biography
Most scholars see the gospels as being along the lines of greco roman biography. I think we have different expectations of what a biography should look like. So biographies are selective. They're focused on certain teachings and deeds of the person. When he's writing the opening of his book, plutarch says, the reader must forgive me, for i'm in skirt by a lot of detail here that other people know about. After all, i'm not writing history, but biography. It's the same term there.
