Michel wanted ien to sell the condo so she could get reimbursed for the down payment she had made, but ien liked the condo and had no intention of moving out. This put them at a sort of standstill, and kind of forced them to continue interacting despite being broken up. Through their somewhat regular exchanges over this property, they learned how to be cordial again. Even though this did not get them anywhere closer to solving their condo issue, it seemed like they were at least at a point where they could treat each other with respect.
