The Connection of a Day to the Sun and the Moon
A year was the length of time it took for the seasons to complete a full cycle. Long days meant more heat, and therefore good conditions for planting. Long nights meant more cold and a time for harvesting and storing food. The idea that the moon makes people a little crazy has passed into our modern culture as well. And we still have notions of some one going crazy and howling at the moon.
