Maculae - A Heroic Response to Suffering
A Maculae illabegiza was a college student in Rwanda when a genocide broke out against her people. She visited her family's killer in prison to offer her forgiveness. Aquinas believes that scripture reveals that Job himself was permitted to suffer so that he could model for others had a bear suffering with patients. The story illustrates Aquinas' thought about how suffering which is permitted to one person can bring great goods to others.
