The Organization of the Church

During the apostolic era, the church seems to have been organized primarily by households. The organization of the church that we see develop is not something that seems to arise from direct divine command. Rather, it seems to be a result of spirit directed evolution of the church's structure and human wisdom in organization. We have a window into this organization of the early church in figures like gaius, who is mentioned in romans chapter 16, verse 23, as a host to paul and the whole church.
