The Manhattan Project Scientists Didn't Know What They Were Working On
95% or more of the participants who were working on the manheatan project, the construction workers, the operators of these vast facilities, were not told what they were working on. The were told they were producing toilet paper. Five % either knew because they had to, ecause they were actually at los alamas working on the bomb itself, or they figured it out. They knew that it must be working on an a nuclear weapon of some sort. There were a lots of jokes about what was going on.
