The Different Types of Imagination in Business
The most interesting area for imagination in business is the things that happen to be the case, but could be otherwise. It means they're grounded in the laws of physics and economics, but there are possibilities that are not yet explored by reality. So a good example is any major invention before we had the invention. We just happened not to have it. The technology builds on previous technologies and recombines the parts. And that's often what we do with imagination. A plausible, useful innovation is neither incremental nor is it, uh, completely fancy, fanciful.
