The Sign of the Miracle in the Gospel of John
In both cases, jesus is asked do something and gives a seemingly discouraging response to the person who requests. Both miracles are followed by a conversation that seems to play an important role in displaying the character of the miracle as a sign. As in the synoptic gospels, we see here the importance of persistence in prayer. How might the samaritan woman function as a paradime of faith or unbelief?
