Netflix and the Supply Side of Creativity
Netflix has different goals and desires than pure artistry. They want to keep you in front of the screen as long as possible, which leads to what I describe as Netflix bloat. Everything that is on Netflix is at least 20% longer than it needs to be. That's because they don't value getting people in and out like they should. If you watch something on TV, you're watching a made for TV movie. And if you watch something in a theater, you'rewatching a film. There's a difference.
