When we confirm something, we let somebody know that we've received something. If you're having an argument with some of your colleagues and they put forward better arguments, you concede you accept that their arguments are the best. So he concedes that he is not going to win. When we deny something, we say, we didn't do it or it didn't happen. I denied that I was there at the scene of the accident.
