The french lost around 12 hundred men, and the russians lost more than twice that number. Of the seven thousand men of the rear guard, only four thousand were able to rejoin katuzo's army. On paper, it was another defeat for the coalition. But bagration had retreated in good order and managed to buy katuzof three days.
