The earliest account is from the reign of augustus, so it's only about 30 odd years later. But therar felis is we got ner claus and suetonius, who are writing under the emperor hadrian. And plutarch, who is a little bit later, about 200 ish, writes what call parallel lives. Sadly, none of these five sources are contemporary accounts. As caesar was making his way towards the senate meeting, cassius dio has him spot sperina.
