Saffron Grows in Dry Dirt
When we were doing research for this podcast I was surprised to find out that saffron grows in dry dirt so not like a super wet and moist environment but more of like a dry arid environment. It's surprising when you think about the kind of bulb nature of the saffron how it starts out. Recently saffron cultivation in the US has started to pick back up because of the University of Vermont they have a saffron growing project going on at a whole department even.
