The decline of bor was not only institutional the very idea of the working class as a distinct group, with its own interests from those of its employers. In both cases, the new deal, or new deal order, has returned as a reference point. The left, we have the green new deal and a desire to resurrect a certain sort of state involvement in the economy. And then with trump and trump ism, i think there's a powerful invocation of the lost new deal orders,. But critically, it's just invoked as a sort of wounded nastalgia without any of the new deal's redistributive economics.
