The Fed Created the Low Interest Rate Environment
Interest rates are still at zero in 20 22. They started it in two thousand and nine. Obviously it's not temporary if we've been doing it almost continuously ever since. A few times the fed tried to take it away, as soon as there was withdrawal, they came right back with a bigger dose. So that's why we have this huge balance sheet now. We're basically setting monetary policy for the rest of the world. If we had normal interest rates, if interest rates were four or five % in the united states, you think they'd be zero in europe? Course not.
