In the face of criticism, was there ever a temptation to say, i am in a kind of pain that would shake you trolls to your knees? I don't think it ever came out. There is definitely a sense in which having a intensely physicalized form of suffering can alienate you from people who complain of suffering in ways that are less physicalized.
