You don't really know why you're doing a lot of what you're doing, but you know that you do it. And if somebody asks, you've got a story. But in some sense, this is less about self deception driving behavior, more about self deception excusing behavior explaining. So there's an easy thing to do and a hard thing to do. Both of them face a common obstacle, which is you have to make people willing to adopt these changes.
