Spearman's Method of Tetrahedron Analysis
The common factor model was developed eight years before Spearman's 1904 paper. He used a method of tetraads, which is something that we don't do anymore. The factory analytic part and the mathematical part were almost an aside in his work. But he saw this method as trying to bring empirical support to adjudicate his research hypothesis.
