The Risk of an Institutional Crisis in Brazil if Lula Wins Outright
The risk of an institutional crisis in Brazil if we get a contested election seemed to have receded somewhat based on the polling showing Lula with such a large margin. But as we now know, the polls were wrong, and so it seems that that risk is right back there on the table. We don't know what it would look like. It could be just Bolsonaro alleging fraud, but then grudgingly writing off into the sunset. Or it could also be something more akin to a Brazilian version of the January 6 insurrection that we saw here in the United States.
