The appendix on New Speak at the end is one way that there might be some hope in the book. It also kind of sort of fractures the whole structure of the novel as it unpicks the novel because it's written from the point of view of somebody who's read the novel and how they managed to do that. I really like the idea that we as readers we're kind of intruding into Winston's thoughts as well we're you know we are sort of being being the bad guys in that way That's really interesting because Winston's a satan no more machine isn't it.
