Simon Evans' on Liberty

Comedian Simon Evans has chosen John Stuart Mill as his great life. His show includes a section where he stops dead to read some of the philosopher's work. He says it would be inappropriate to paraphrase 'the greatest ever British genius' But this is him identifying what is necessary in society in order to cultivate genius, so I thought it was appropriate. The show genius is essentially a sort of a plaintive wail of despair at the collapse of visible intelligence in public life more than anything else.
