Introduction

A government bill set to overhaul Canadian broadcasting laws passed a vote in the Senate late today and is now law. But there are many questions which various branches of the government will have to answer before we know what our media landscape will look like. Questions include, what exactly counts as a digital streaming service? What exactly counts as Canadian content? Why don't we already know the answer to those things by now? And why are conservatives worried about censorship? The government wants political control over news and culture. Does this bill really give the government control over what you will see online?
