"I was like, wow, this is a very loaded moment," he says. "How can we be blamed for the greatest thing that ever happened? Like why do you hate us for this?" He turns to quote from Roman catechism: "All sinners were the authors of Christ's passion." The church does not hesitate to impute to Christians the gravest responsibility for the torments inflicted upon Jesus, he writes.
