We are discussing the regulatory issues around the Jack in the Box E. coli outbreak in the early 90s that led to pivotal changes in food safety legislation. Michael Taylor, a former administrator at the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service, or FSIS, as well as the former Deputy Commissioner for Foods and Veterinary Medicine at FDA. He played a major role in the regulatory response to the problem of E. coli 0157H7 in ground beef during your time as USDA's FSIS in the mid 90s.
