The Importance of Having Skin in the Game

Studies show that veterans perform far better than civilians or normal politicians at the polls. Yet having skin in the game is fairly rare today. It's hard to find a politician who so clearly puts their livelihood or even their life at risk when running the country. When we actually see a leader with some skin in thegame, it genuinely changes our perception of them. Boris Johnson has got since leaving 10 Downing Street that he's not financially affected by his time in Parliament. Donald Trump's stint and power seems to have only bolstered his international influence and his paychecks despite his reign being disastrous.
