The angle that it subtends in the night sky is similar to the moon. The radius of the sun, i'm guessing it was calculated in a similar way. If you know the difference, e, you can te radius. And we also know that it's pretty much like, the angle is pretty much the same as the moon. Another interesting thing is how the moon isn't bigger or smaller than it actually is.
