The Y Chromosome and the Mitochondrial Genome

There are two lines of genetic evidence, one from mitochondrial DNA and one from the Y chromosome. If you're going to find anything out of nature, it means it's more likely to be mitochondrial DNA. Mitochondrial DNA is just passed down through the female line. Mom passes it down to all of her children, but only daughters pass it on. It's in the egg. So that actually really helped confirm your confidence that it was Richard.
