Single-Vetrical Heart Disease and the Fontaine Circulation

A 33-year-old woman was born with pulmonary atresia and a hypoplastic right ventricle. Doctors had to figure out a way to get blood to her lungs in a hurry. At the age of 22, she underwent a fenestrated lateral tunnel fontan procedure. This is where we hook up the IVC to the RPA using a prosthetic conduit called an extra cardiac bontain or using patch material with the right atrium called a lateral tunnel fen tane.
