Planet Imagery Detects Wildfires in Real-Time
Wildfires in the western U.S. are getting worse, growing larger and spreading faster. Mountain elevations that were historically too wet and cool to support fires are now seeing their landscapes ignite. In southwest China's largest city, Chongqing, a fast-moving fire was triggered by record heat and drought. It was fought with support from a swarm of drones; delivery drones carried food and supplies while surveillance drones flew into the thick of the flames.
