There's a ton of research out there that shows that like anytime you can find anything in common with another person, it kind of instantly builds rapport. People become unreasonable and they rely on themselves and their own biases when they're not having that human connection, right? When they're in kind of the throes of work, when they really are maybe thinking and operating a little bit more robotically, right? And that's maybe a pessimistic way to look at it. But I do think that anything we can do to remind them that like we're human, right? We're people. Just starting there, it makes a huge difference in the relationship and in building trust," he says.
