The History of AI Generated Art
Dali, which OpenAI started, same company as Chad GPT, is the first widely accessible text to image generator where you can literally type in a text prompt. And so more and more programs like it have made widely available something that only a few tech savvy artists who literally knew how to code were comfortable using or even had access to. In 2018 an art collective named obvious used this open source algorithm to create a painting called the portrait of Edmund Balame. It sold at Christie's in 2018 for over $400,000.
