The History of Birth Control in the Early 50s

Many of the techniques couples or women would have been using in the 20s and 30s and 40s were still apparent in the 1950s. Homemade contraceptives included dipping cotton swabs into an acidic solution before sex to prevent conception. There was also the use of Lysol as a tool for killing sperm as sperm aside. People really drew on their own ingenuity to try to curb their fertility with all sorts of different results.
